Understanding Economic Releases
Interpret releases through expectations, revisions and source methodology.
Economic Data
Economic releases describe activity such as output, employment or prices. Markets react to expectations, revisions and context as well as headline values. Release times and details should be verified against the original source.
Example
An above-forecast number may still coincide with a falling currency if expectations or positioning differ.
Market Expectations
Prices incorporate changing expectations rather than only current published data. The difference between expectations and new information is one part of a reaction, not a complete explanation. Avoid turning a forecast into certainty.
Example
A positive report may disappoint if the market expected an even stronger result.
Economic Calendar
A calendar organizes scheduled releases by time, country and event. Forecasts are estimates and timestamps need timezone awareness. Actual publication may be delayed or revised. Our tools show samples unless a live data service is configured.
Example
Convert an event time to your local zone before planning an observation window.
