MetaTrader 4 Tutorials
Practice charts, order entry and account setup in a demo environment.
DownloadInstalling MetaTrader
Access broker-supported installers and setup instructions from the authenticated Client Area. Check the operating system and official publisher. Never share account credentials or install software from an unknown link.
Example
Use the Platforms page to request access through your Client Area; no broker installer is publicly exposed here.
Logging Into Your Trading Account
A trading account login may differ from a Client Area login. Use the exact broker-provided account number, server and password. Investor/read-only credentials do not grant normal trading permissions. This site does not provide real server credentials.
Example
Verify whether you are signing into a demo or live trading server before placing an order.
Opening a Chart
Select an available symbol from Market Watch and open its chart. Choose a timeframe, inspect the price scale and confirm the symbol specification. Available symbols depend on the server and account.
Example
Open a demo EUR/USD chart and compare hourly and daily views without submitting an order.
Adding Indicators
Add compatible indicators using the platform interface. Record parameter values and understand the calculation. Adding more indicators does not necessarily add independent information, since many use the same prices.
Example
Compare a price chart with one moving average and document how it changes with its lookback.
Placing an Order
In a demo environment, open the order dialog, select symbol, order type and volume, then review price and exits before sending. Execution rules differ by platform and instrument. One-click features can submit orders without a second confirmation.
Example
Confirm 0.01 versus 1.00 lots carefully: a decimal-entry mistake changes exposure substantially.
Setting Stops and Targets
Set stop-loss and take-profit levels on the correct side of entry for the intended direction, subject to platform constraints. Verify accepted values after modification. Trigger conventions and stop-distance rules depend on the symbol.
Example
For a long position, a conventional protective stop is below entry and a target is above it.
Templates and Layouts
Save chart settings using templates or supported layout tools. Confirm whether a saved layout includes indicators, drawings or other settings. Reusing a visual layout does not transfer or validate a strategy.
Example
Save a demo chart template, then apply it to another symbol and inspect the result.
Expert Advisors
Expert Advisors are programs that can automate analysis or trading in supported MetaTrader environments. Permissions, compatibility and continuous operation matter. Test on demo and understand the code or provider risks before enabling automated orders.
Example
An EA built for MQL4 is not automatically interchangeable with an MQL5 program.
Depth of Market
Depth of Market shows price-level information made available by the trading infrastructure. Its meaning and coverage vary by venue and feed. It is not a complete map of global liquidity and may be unavailable for some accounts.
Example
An empty depth panel may reflect server support rather than an application error.
Platform Review
Verify account mode, symbol, quantity and exit settings before trading. Practice changes in a demo environment and keep credentials private. Broker access and TradingView connections must be available for your account.
Example
Use a checklist to inspect a demo order before submitting it.
